The Roads. Bridges. Tunnels Exhibition is the largest transportation construction project in North West Russia. It is aimed at developing and introducing new, promising technologies, materials, and equipment.

70 organisations attended the event, which included exhibitors who came from nearly every region of Russia: St. Petersburg, Moscow, Samara, Voronezh, Irkutsk, Cherepovets, Ekaterinburg, Saratov, the Volgograd Region, the Ulyanovsk Region, the Kurgan Region, and other regions. International participants came from Germany and Switzerland.

The exhibition was officially opened with introductions by:
- Dmitry Burenin, Representative member of the St. Petersburg Administration and Head of the Committee for St. Petersburg Transportation Infrastructure Development, who stated that during this challenging year, the exhibition provides an additional opportunity for market players to come to agreement on tentative plans, and thoroughly report on the work accomplished thus far.
- Alexey Volkov, Deputy Chairman of the Road Committee of the Leningrad Region, referred to the exhibition as a springboard for defining the tendencies and problems in the public road system, and the ways to solve them.
- K.V. Ivanov, Director of the Dormost Association, described the event not only as an exhibition and place for business networking, but also as a place for friends to meet.

The exhibition provided a platform for familiarising oneself with products from key companies in the industry, including Herrenknecht, AG; AVE GMbH; Severstal-metiz, JSC; Geodiagnostika, LLC; Innovative Technologies, LLC; JSC PYLON; NPP SK MOST, LLC; Lengiprotransput (a branch of JSC RoszheldorProject); SvetoService, LLC; and many others.

The event’s main attraction was the Committee for St. Petersburg Transportation Infrastructure Development exhibition, which displayed reports and plans for the city’s transportation infrastructure development. The exposition organised by the Road Committee of the Leningrad Region drew the special interest of professionals, displaying possible plans for developing the region’s road system, including partnership projects between the public and private sectors, joint European trans-border partnership projects, as well as other capital-intensive projects for the 47th Russian region.

Participants presented a wide range of goods and services covering all stages of the transportation construction process. The TRS Company drew visitors’ attention to road ribbons designed to repair pavement cracks, as well as joint-sealing and crack-filling ribbons. The Volgograd Magnesium Plant gave a presentation on EcoTrack, a magnesium-chloride de-icing agent. Representatives of Anchor Technologies, LLC, held a demonstration on technology for constructing underground artificial structures using closed methods, allowing transportation infrastructures to be unaffected. JSC Pylon presented its materials for stage 3 of constructing the Northern section of the WHSD, from the Bogatyr Avenue Junction to the Ring Road Junction, as well as the reconstruction of Palace Bridge. Ulyanovsk NIAT, OJSC, displayed their automated production lines for metal-corrugated pipes.

Visitors were particularly interested in guard rails and bridge parapets (ViaCon Saferoad, LLC), tools for measuring borehole temperatures (Geodiagnostics, LLC), injectable compounds, thin-layer coatings for bridge protection (Innovative Technologies, LLC), flexible concrete surfacing (Spetsprom 1, LLC), as well as many other products.

The finest examples of road and construction equipment, and municipal vehicles were displayed under the open sky on Manege Square. Approximately 20 pieces of equipment were displayed at the exposition: excavators, municipal vehicles, machines for bridge and tunnel construction, etc.

In addition to traditional displays, the Developing City Landscape and Transport: Protection and Safety exhibitions caught the eye of experts. All of the expositions complemented each other, enlightening visitors to the networking opportunities with representatives of related industries.

The Scientific and Practical Conference, Road and Bridge Construction: Quality and Safety, was part of the exhibition’s business programme, bringing up such topical issues as “Road Infrastructure Development Plans in the Leningrad Region,” “The Role of Intelligent Transportations Systems for Developing a City’s Intelligent Infrastructure,” “Innovative Waterproofing Technologies,” “The Mechanism of Public-Private Partnerships,” and many others. The Developing Fasteners for Road and Bridge Construction Conference was also held as part of the exhibition.

The Roads. Bridges. Tunnels Exhibition was commissioned by the St. Petersburg Administration with the support of the Committee for St. Petersburg Transportation Infrastructure Development, the Road Committee of the Leningrad Region, the Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Dormost Association, and the International Academy of Transportation.

The exhibition proved once again that the road and bridge-building sector of the industry is developing, and ready to meet the needs of today’s metropolitan city. This exhibition has been organised by RESTEC® Exhibition Company, one of the leading Russian companies in organising business events.
